Pretend you’re Captain Jack Sparrow
Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have you ever seen the rain” blares over the speakers of the Seven Seas where she lies in the Mossel Bay harbour. Groups of children stand by the railings and try to look cool.
And then the Seven Seas departs, headed for Seal Island beyond the sheltered waters of the harbour.
“There are between 3 000 and 4 000 breeding pairs of seals on the island,” says Gerhard van Vuuren, the ship’s owner, as you approach. They’re everywhere; some splash around in the shallows, others heave themselves around the rocks. You’d think you’d have to go far to see this, but in less than an hour you’re back in the harbour.
How much? R90 per adult, R45 per child between 4 and 12 (R220 per adult and R90 per child for a sunset cruise with full buffet, minimum 24 people)
