Knorrox Oxtail Tomato & Onion Soya Mince
Knorrox Oxtail Tomato & Onion Soya mince is perfect for that camping trip.
The label reads: “More meaty taste”, it boasts twice – which makes you wonder. On the back of the packaging it shows a little guy who looks like a young Julius Malema (okay, perhaps a little more congenial), and while flexing his muscles, he declares: “Growing up big and strong, Mom.”
We say: Perhaps the guys who designed the packaging were at school with Julius, because there are no instructions on how to prepare the Knorrox. We just followed the Imana lamb breyani recipe (above), since both packets contain soya mince and weigh 100 g. The result was great. The tomato flavour was deliciously strong and the soya tasted very meaty. Lekker!
Price: R4,59 (Note: Price accurate in October 2009)
Enough for: Three teenage girls, two regular guys or Os du Randt.
Go! says: This one was easily the winner, taste and dry weight considered. Knorrox rocks!

Not sure why there are no instructions. Is a bit confusing! Anyway - mix 100g dry soya with 3 cups water, bring to the boil stirring all the time then simmer for about 10 minutes.

I used to also use Soya mince some years ago and have forgotten how to cook it. I am absolutely amazed that there are no cooking instructions on the box, why would someone do that!!!
