Camp Pizza

My mother-in-law Mariette Malan has a great recipe for camp pizza. We made it last weekend, and it really is delicious. Best of all, you can eat it straight from the braai grid.
Here’s how:
Put the pizza base on the braai grid over hot coals and grill it on both sides. Remove it from the heat, spread a small tin of tomato paste on it, add the toppings (mozzarella and cheddar cheese mixed with chopped ham and bacon) and put it back on the open grid.
We devised a “pizza oven” by using the Cadac high braai pan as a lid, so the toppings were cooked and the pizza was scrumptious.
When you’re camping, this makes a nice change from chops and braaibroodjies.
