On the first day in uMkhuze Villiers Steyn saw 30 species and over the course of four days counted 109. And to think this is only a quarter of the total number of bird species found in the reserve.

Among the rare species you might spot are Pel’s fishing-owl and narina trogon in the fig tree forest, African pygmy-goose and  broad-billed roller at Nsumo Pan, and African broadbill and pink-throated twinspot in the sand forest between kuBubu and kuMasinga hides.
