I wanted a tent that my girlfriend and I could take car camping. Weight wasn’t an issue. What was important was that it was cheap, durable and waterproof.

It’s a surprisingly good tent, for the price. It’s kept us dry in some really bad weather, including one memorable storm on the Wild Coast where the wind reached gale force and it rained solidly for several days.

For two people it’s also nice and spacious. It easily accommodates a double mattress with plenty of room around the sides for our clobber.
 

The supplied tent pegs were really blunt. I sharpened them using an angle grinder and they work much better now. 

You first set up the poles to form the dome, and then attach the inner with clips. Putting up the flysheet is a bit more fiddly.

There’s a third pole that forms the vestibule, and this needs to be fed into a sleeve in the flysheet. However, the whole set-up is still pretty fast; it usually takes us no more than 10 minutes.

The tent packs away easily, although the quality of the carry bag isn’t great. I reckon the tent will outlive the bag.
