Terra-Firma Switchback
The smaller pack is a good size for a three-day trail, but it’s worth spending the extra R100 in case you’d like todo a longer hike one day.
Terra-Firma is Trappers’new in-house brand, like K-Way for Cape Union Mart and 360 Degrees for Outdoor Warehouse. This doesn’t mean it’s cheap and nasty: The Terra- Firma backpack range has a five-year warranty.
The Switchback has the same features you’d expect on a more expensive backpack, like reflective tabs and a safety whistle, in case you get lost at night – or if your hike ends at the rave tent of a music festival. It’s also made of tough 600D fabric, with even stronger 900D stuff on the base.
Other features include a large mesh front pocket for stowing a raincoat or wet towel and optional extra removable side pockets (R100 per pair).
