Buy one and leave it in a pocket of your backpack.

Every hiker should have a space blanket stashed permanently in their backpack. Folded, it’s smaller than a wallet, and it weighs less than 40 g, so you won’t even notice you’re carrying it. Wrap it around somebody who is either very cold or in shock. The metallic coating helps to trap body heat and prevent hypothermia.
I’ve used one before and it really does work. It is, however, meant to be used only in an emergency, as it tears easily and rustles like a packet of chips being crumpled.
