A whistle is one of the key components of any survival kit. Anybody who spends lots of time in the outdoors should have one.

Old-fashioned? Perhaps. But a whistle is still the best way to call for help if you’re lost or injured or a victim of crime. There’s no need for batteries and a whistle is much more piercing than the human voice.
This was the loudest one we could find. The manufacturer claims it’s rated to 122 decibels, just on the threshold of pain for the human ear, so the name is appropriate! But what really sets it apart from regular whistles is the “pea-less” design, which means there’s no little ball inside, so it still works in wet or icy conditions.
