Frescoryl toothpaste in a tablet
As any dentist will tell you, there’s no substitute for a good few minutes’ scrub with your toothbrush and Aquafresh. But sometimes this isn’t possible. Perhaps you’re camping in the Okavango Delta and are worried about leaving the tent because of lions, or you’re on a long-haul flight and your toiletry bag is in the hold. That’s when you want to reach for a Frescoryl tablet.
It’s the size of a Panado, and tastes like a strong after-dinner mint. The instructions say you should chew the tablet until it breaks up, then use your tongue to smear the paste around your teeth and gums for 30 seconds – no brush or water required.
I must say it doesn’t make quite as much of a paste as I would have liked, but after doing the “brushing” routine with my tongue my mouth was feeling tingly and clean. You can swallow at the end, so there’s no worry about where to spit.
Price: R35 for a box of 10 and R40 for a ziplock bag of 20 (Note: Price accurate in May 2010)
