Camp crockery
Camping crockery should be able to withstand any abuse. Porcelain and glass are out, so you have three options: enamel, stainless steel and plastic.
Enamel is robust and cheap, but perhaps a bit retro. Stainless steel is classier, but expensive. Both stainless steel and enamel are also heavier and can be uncomfortably hot to touch –a mug can burn your mouth, and it’s tricky to eat with a hot plate on your lap. Plastic and plastic derivatives such as melamine won’t get as hot, and are also relatively cheap and easy to clean. However, such materials can start to look scruffy over time, as they get worn with repeated washing.
