Sunset silhouette
TALYA WRITES: “I attend Yeshiva College in Johannesburg, but I was born in Israel. My family came back to South Africa about two years ago.We travel a lot in South Africa, especially to the Kruger National Park, which has become like our second home.
“I love photography, nature, wildlife and art. Since I was young, my dad, Ilan, has taught me how to
take photographs, respect the environment and protect animal rights.”
TOAST SAYS: Talya has sent a good number of quite arty nature photos. She photographs things
that most people won’t even bother pointing their cameras at.
Don’t be seduced by the sun when you’re shooting a sunset scene. Once you’ve exhausted your landscape options in the direction of the setting sun, have a look around. Talya found this simple but powerful silhouette of a branch against the pink sky.
More often than not, the best sunset picture is behind you, where the sun’s last rays cast a soft pink light on the mountains, or maybe even above you, where a silhouette like Talya’s might reside in a tree.
I like her composition too, the branch anchoring the right-hand corner and handing over the rest of
the frame to the pink sky.
A great artistic shot, Talya; keep them coming!
