The Kruger National Park is a fantastic birding destination with more than 500 species recorded for the park! Birding is excellent both inside and outside the camps, and on this page we have selected our 10 best birding spots outside the camps.
There is no best time for birding; it generally depends on the species you are looking for. Small birds are often very vocal in the early morning and late afternoon, while larger birds, like vultures, can only start flying when the air heats up in the mid-morning. Water birds are often active throughout the day at waterholes, natural pans and dams.
Here is our list of top birding spots outside camps.
