Lions are found throughout the Kruger National Park, but there are areas where you will have a better chance of seeing them than others. Lions are particularly plentiful in the south of the park, where productive habitats attract great numbers of their favourite prey species, including buffalo, zebra and blue wildebeest.
The areas around Lower Sabie, Crocodile Bridge and Satara are particularly good for lions! Prides often lie on the tar roads very early in the morning; so if you are the first person out of the gate, you have a good chance of finding them there. Because of this, four of our top five roads for lion are tar roads.
