There are picnic sites near all of the Kruger National Park's camps. Take the opportunity to stretch you legs, visit the bathroom and have something to eat. All the picnic sites have tables and chairs, dustbins and toilet facilities. Some also rent out gas skottels so you can have a cook-up out in the bush and have kitchenettes to clean your dishes. Most picnic sites, even the small ones, sell bottled water and a limited variety of soft drinks.
Some of the larger picnic sites have small gift shops and cafeterias selling everything from pancakes to hamburgers. It's not surprising that picnic sites attract a great number and variety of birds, but also cheeky vervet monkeys and baboons that will try to steel your food; so be on the lookout for these culprits.
