Maroela is for campers only and no day visitors are allows into the camp. There is no shop, cafeteria or restaurant; you'd have to drive to Orpen for shopping or fuel. As a result, Maroela has a very tranquil atmosphere. The campsite is located on the bank of the Timbavati River, which attracts great numbers of wildlife. There's electricity in camp and one small ablution block, a kitchenette and two communal freezers.
Vervet monkeys are known to cause trouble in Maroela, so do remember to put away your food and valuables when you go out on a game drive.
