When you think of Satara you usually think of lions! The camp is located in a very productive area that attracts vast numbers of large herbivores, which in turn attract the predators.
Satara camp is probably best known for camping along the fence. About 300m of the big campsite is located next to the fence, giving campers the opportunity to do game viewing from their camp chairs. The open area next to the fence attracts impala, zebra, blue wildebeest, giraffe, kudu, buffalo, elephant, warthog and spotted hyaena!
The rest of Satara camp is large but not spectacular. The area is very flat so there is no view over the open plains or a river in front of the restaurant, as is the case in so many other camps. Bungalows are arranged in six large circles and there is a recreation area with a swimming pool and jungle gym for the kids in the centre of camp.
