The Kruger National Park is home to thousands of animals and birds that share the park with tourists. If we don't adhere to the park rules, the lives of these creatures could be at risk, along with our own. Please read through the following list of very important park rules. If everyone sticks to these, your Kruger National Park safari experience will be a safe and memorable one.
The speed limit in the park is 50km/h (31 miles/h) on tar roads and 40km/h (24 miles/h) on gravel roads. Remember that these speeds are already faster than the recommended game-viewing speed of 25km/h (15 miles/h). High speeds lead to road kills, and spoil the safari experience for other visitors. It also limits your chances of spotting animals. |
At no time during your game drive are you allowed to get out of your vehicle or lean out of your window to get a better view. No part of your body may protrude from a window or sunroof! Not only are you putting your life in danger, but your movements may scare away the animals and spoil a sighting. Visitors may only get out of the vehicle at designated spots, like picnic sites and certain lookout points. |
Please do not feed the animals – not on your drive, at picnic spots or in camps! When animals get fed they might bite or become beggars and may eventually have to be put down. |
Please stick to the gate times. Don't arrive late in camp, because you will be fined. Gate closing times are clearly signposted at the entrance gates. |
Visitors are only allowed to travel on designated tar and gravel roads. No off-road driving into the bush is allowed. No visitors are allowed to drive roads marked with a no-entry sign. |
Visitors may only overnight in designated camps or overnight hides. No camping or sleeping in the vehicle outside these designated areas. |
All accommodation units and campsites may be occupied from 12:00 and must be vacated at 09:00. |
Visitors may not remove anything from the veld, such as wood, feathers, bones, flowers, porcupine quills or any other natural object. |
Firearms must be declared at the gate. |
No pets are allowed in the park. |
Please keep all cell phones on silent throughout the park – this will make everyone's Kruger experience a better one! |
Never throw cigarette buds or anything else that could start a fire out the vehicle window! |
