Tree squirrels are common throughout the Kruger National Park and are best observed in the camps, because it is difficult to get close to them on the roads. They become very tame in most camps and, unfortunately, visitors are tempted to feed them. This can cause them to become problem animals that later have to be killed by park officials.

Although they occur in most Kruger camps, Letaba is the best place to see tree squirrels.
