Botswana: The Okavango for everyone

Guma Lagoon, on the Panhandle of the Delta, has some of the best tiger fishing in southern Africa.

A lone elephant makes his way through the swamp. From the air, you can get an idea of the awesome scale of the Okavango Delta.

The campsite at Shakawe Fishing Lodge is right on the river, and there"s plenty of shade. It"s the perfect place to read a book and relax.

Krokovango Crocodile Farm in Shakawe mostly produces leather for shoes and handbags, but exports meat too. You can go on a tour of the farm and hatchery, where these young crocs await their fate.

The Okavango River flows swiftly past Shakawe Fishing Lodge. Further south it becomes more sluggish as it splays into the delta.

Like punting, steering a moroko is more difficult than it looks. Rather leave it to the experts, like bush guide Lovemore Setshego.

Water lilies add a touch of colour to the delta.

To get this close to the Van der Post Panel on Tsodilo"s Female Hill, there"s a tricky scramble.

Male hill (right) rises 410 m above the surrounding plain and dominates the sunset skyline at Tsodilo.
