Ponta do Ouro is protected from the Indian Ocean by a headland, so the sea is very calm here.

Launching a dive boat is hard work. Once the boat is in the shallows, the divers haul themselves aboard. Then it’s full throttle through the waves.

There are all sorts of curios and carvings on offer at the craft market in Ponta do Ouro.

This group of German backpackers planned to spend a few days in Ponta do Ouro before heading up the coast to Tofo.
