Most regular visitors would agree: If you haven’t camped at Nossob, you haven’t been to the Kgalagadi.
Nossob is easily the most popular camp in the Kgalagadi. It is synonymous with lions. I heard lions on seven out of the ten nights I stayed in the camp and saw lions six times.
If you look at everything Nossob has to offer, it’s clear why it’s such a popular camp.
There’s a small shop, filling station and swimming pool, as well as a walking trail, an information centre and a well-designed hide right next to a waterhole, where, you guessed it, lions are regularly spotted.
The shop stocks a reasonable variety of goods, but you’ll go home with empty pockets if you do all your shopping there: R17 for a 1,5-litre bottle of water, R50 for a can of Peaceful Sleep and R20 for a packet of Romany Creams… Rather bring everything you’ll need from home.
However, I can recommend the fresh bread and roosterkoek that you can order at reception (R20 a loaf and R5 for a roosterkoek).
Nossob has no cellphone reception nor public telephones, but there is power – the generator is usually turned on between 5 am and 6 am and it runs until 10 pm or 11 pm.
