The Amphitheatre is a familiar image on postcards. Imagine what a thrill it is to stand on top of this rock formation.

Chel-Marí Spies reaches the top of a chain ladder near the Sentinel.

The Drakensberg is a wilderness area, and there aren’t many paths or signs – you have to find your own way.

The Tugela Falls (950 m), on the right of the picture, is the second highest waterfall in the world. The Mountain Club’s hut here is the last built shelter on the trail.

Go in spring or summer if you want to see flowers.
