Toast sweeps the Media24 Excellence Awards
Toast even wore a tie!
Go! again fared outstandingly in Media24's annual journalism "Oscars" last night.
Toast Coetzer won three of the coveted awards:
• Best Column for "Life's a journey..." (go! #30, December 2008), a column about driving from the Kgalagadi to Douglas.
• Best Specialist Reporter, for, among others, Toast's handling of "Take Your Pic," where he evaluates and comments on readers' photos.
• Journalist of the Year. Toast writes articles and columns in both Afrikaans and English, and is also an excellent photographer. He won the grand prize: He's Media24's Journalist of the Year!
Dana Snyman won the prize for the best article for a story that appeared in Weg, “Soebatsfontein sing sy laaste Psalm,” a beautiful story about the Dutch Reformed Church in the small Namaqualand town closing its doors for good. Dana also took the photos for this moving story.
