Cape Outback MTB Xpedition
Amateur mountain bikers can put their abilities to the test in the first Cape Outback MTB Xpedition, which will be held from 24 to 28 April 2010. The brainchild of X-Treme Africa Events, the expedition promises to take riders through the most rugged and scenic terrain of the Hessequa, Cape Agulhas and Overberg districts in the Western Cape.
The trail cuts through nature reserves and farms, and covers a total distance of 477 km and a total ascent of 7 380 m. Riders take part in teams of two, and only 125 teams are allowed to enter. Riders can choose between a self-service package (R8 900 per team) and a full-service package (R11 900 per team). Entries close on 8 April 2010.
The Cape Outback is not a race; position placement will be determined by a points system. Riders who finish all five stages inside the cut-off time will be awarded a Cape Outback MTB Xpedition finisher’s medal.
