Want to know why southern Mozambique is so popular? Look no further than the beaches…

South African visitors to the popular southern part of Mozambique have been cautioned following a violent attack on a group of South Africans on Monday, 5 April.
South Africa¹s High Commissioner to Mozambique, Dikgang Moopeloa, was on Tuesday (13 April) said to be "rendering consular assistance" to the victims.
In a statement issued by the department, Moopeloa emphasised that South Africans were not specifically the target of any attack/s.
This follows local reports about the group who fell prey to robbers while staying near the town of Chissibuca. Beeld newspaper reported that one of the women in the group of 16 had been raped.
There have also been reports of other attacks on visitors in Inhambane province.
High Commissioner Moopeloa urged South Africans travelling or planning to travel to Mozambique to exercise the necessary caution and said they should enquire with the venues where they have booked accommodation about the safety in and around areas they are planning to visit.
