zoommore

The camellia collection of Vergelegen Estate near Somerset West was recently designated an International Camellia Garden of Excellence by the International Camellia Society (ICS).

This accolade makes Vergelegen’s garden the first Camellia Garden of Excellence in South Africa and one of only 17 in the world. The estate’s collection consists of 1000 plants and about 550 cultivars.

The camellias are now flowering and can be viewed every day between 09h30 and 16h00. A guided tour for a group of up to 20 people can be arranged.

Cost: R10 per person; R5 for pensioners
